Inspecting Two Tank Systems
For tank systems with two or more tanks, only one inspection form is required; however, each tank must be compliant with rules in order to pass the inspection. Any aboveground storage tank system that includes more than one storage tank shall have, for each tank, a separate fill pipe, a separate fuel volume gauge, a separate vent pipe, and a separate vent alarm. A manifold can connect the separate vents inside the building and tie them into one outlet vent pipe that goes to the outside of the structure as long as the outlet pipe is at least one pipe size larger than the largest individual vent pipe. If the two tanks have a fill-pipe manifold that NFPA does not approve, it is non-compliant. BUT YOU CAN STILL DELIVER. It should noted in Other Tank System Notes that a YELLOW tag was issued and it should be repaired at the end of the heating season.
